LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed center Casey Rabach. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rabach, 32, has started at center for the Redskins in 79 of the team’s past 80 games (inactive with groin injury vs. Arizona on 10/21/07). Rabach started all 16 games in 2005 and 2008 when running back Clinton Portis set the two highest single-season rushing totals in franchise history (1,516 in 2005 and 1,487 in 2008).

“Casey has been a productive player in this league for many years and we expect him to be a key ingredient to our success,” Redskins Executive Vice President/Head Coach Mike Shanahan said.

The nine-year veteran has played the last five seasons in Washington after spending the first four years of his career in Baltimore. Overall, Rabach has appeared in 121 regular season contests, with 102 starts, since being selected by the Ravens in the third round (92nd overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin.

Rabach, a native of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., was born Sept. 24, 1977.
